baby, it's cold outside.

Canadian weather is temperamental. It's only November and we've already had our first blizzard! I finally have to accept that summer is over and it's time to bring out the boots, hot chocolate and shovels.

I've been eating a lot more soups too now that the weather is colder. It's one of the easiest, healthiest dishes students can throw together quickly between classes. That's exactly what Sophie and I did.

Here's how she made hers:
  1. boil vegetables until soft (potatoes are highly recommended- they add so much flavour and a great texture!)
  2. blend the heck out of them
  3. put it back in a pot (thin out soup with desired amount of liquid)
  4. optional: add cream or milk to make it taste extra creamy!

For decoration:
  • it's recommended to use 35% cream; I tried to use whipping cream, but it didn't turn out as nice.
  • I also like to add garlic Naan Bread as side.You could definitely be creative with the side dish, sandwich, toast, anything could go well with soup.

I'm a little lazier with my method.
  1. throw kabucha pumpkin, frozen spinach, garlic powder, salt and pepper to boiling water
  2. wait till the water is boiled (15-20 minutes?)
  3. eat!






Some disadvantages of soup? You get hungry pretty quickly. What's a girl to do?



Eat then repeat.
